Basic Tenets of C4IS System

Extendibility: Provides the capability to extend to lower echelons of command during subsequent phases.
Scalability:  Provides the capability to extend the system to an increasingly large number of organizations at like levels.
Interoperability:  Leverages the information products of other service components and  coalition force sources, seamlessly accepting and processing such products, given appropriate security constraints.
Compatibility:  Allows all of the subroutines to be integrated as part of the whole system.
Survivability:  Provides alternative approaches, redundant capabilities and external and internal protection to the system from differing forms of attack (viruses, hackers, physical attack, etc.).
Dynamic Battle Control: Provides the means to know more, faster, and be able to act more quickly and decisively than potential enemies.
Information and Knowledge: Provides commanders and their staffs the ability to identify and satisfy their information requirements.  They have timely access to this information through a set of tailorable, recurring information products.
Integration/Leverage: Leverages and multiplies the effectiveness of existing major weapon systems, management systems, and sensor inputs.  Establishes relations between items of data so as to enhance the relevance of that data. Adapts with ease to incorporate any future weapon systems, data source or management systems that may be acquired.
